Island Hockey 101 was created for the purpose of having a place for adult beginners to play hockey. Island Hockey 101 is NOT the best hockey in town but we do provide 10-12 tiers/levels of hockey for players of all types of experience. Our rules have been and always will be catered for the new and developing player. Whether players are brand new or have spent much of their lives playing, our goal is to create a fun, safe, and social atmosphere for hockey. Here are some useful things players new to 101 might want to know:
All players must be wearing full gear, including shoulder pads and minimal half face protection (shield or cage).
All players must be age 19 or older at the end of the calendar year to play.
The league does NOT manage a sub list. All teams carry their own subs meaning they will have registered players on a roster who will sub for each individual teams.
The league DOES manage a small goalie sub list. If you are not registered to a team in the current season and wish to sub, you may pay $25 to be on a goalie sub list.
You may play on more than one team, even if it is within the same tier.
The bottom tier or "development" tier, is a restricted experience tier meaning you must meet our criteria to play in the beginner division.
Roster freeze, meaning teams may no longer add players to their roster, is December 1st. If you are looking to join a team after that date, you will need to join in the next season.
